Alphonse N. Michaud Obituary (1935 - 2017)

LIVE OAK, FLORIDA - Alphonse N. Michaud, 81, of Live Oak, Florida, and formerly of Benton, Maine passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017, at the Lake City Veterans Hospital in Florida following a long illness. He was born in Somersworth, NH on March 8, 1935, the youngest son to J. Alphonse Michaud and Emegile (Bolduc) Michaud. Al was brought up at St. Augustine in Providence, Rhode Island. Mr. Michaud is survived by two children, Dennis Michaud and Loretta Michaud; and one grandchild, Christopher, all of Florida. He is also survived by his sister, Jacqueline Cyrway and her husband Alan of Benton, ME; three nephews, Wayne, Scott, and Jay Cyrway; and a niece Pamela Cyrway; as well as his close friends Joe Carl, and Dave and Elaina Soule. He was predeceased by his brother, Master Staff Sgt. Ronald R. Michaud. Al, at 17, joined the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict, and served over two years and three months before being honorably discharged. Mr. Michaud received Navy Occupation Medal with Europe clasp and the National Defense Service Medal. He always joked that he was the shortest Marine in his barracks, and General Silverthorne called him “Peep-sight”. After leaving the service, Alphonse managed workers for Greyhound Bus Transportation in Providence, Rhode Island, and later in life he managed the Sub Center of Live Oak located in Live Oak, Florida. Al was known in the area for his good humor. He not only took pride in the Sub shop, but truly loved the friends that he made during his time in business. One of his passions in life was owning a horse ranch in Florida. He raised a few large horses, and several miniature horses. He thoroughly enjoyed training horses.
