Arhur Stanley McConkie Jr. Obituary (1927

FAIRFIELD, ME—Arthur Stanley McConkie Jr., 88, of Fairfield, ME passed away at home on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, with his family by his side. Arthur was born in Waterville, ME on July 29, 1927, the son of the late Arthur S. McConkie Sr. and Eva E. Mingo. He graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield, ME, class of 1949. Arthur served with both the Navy and the Army following his schooling. He was employed by Central Maine Railroad, retiring in 1989. Arthur enjoyed having breakfast with his co-workers and classmates. Arthur is survived by his son, Michael S. McConkie and his soul mate, Lisa; Michael’s mother, June Jabar; his wife, Jackie; his step-children, Sarah, Steven, and Spencer; his step-grandchildren; his nieces, Linda Stacey and Linda Dickerson; other nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends; and his beloved cat, Fluffy. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and Home Based Primary Care at Togus VA Hospital for their support and excellent care. Special thanks also to the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta for the excellent care that Arthur received. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19 at Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield, ME with his dear friend, Pastor Ron Brousseau officiating. A gathering to remember and celebrate Arthur’s life will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Governor’s Restaurant in Waterville, ME.
