Dannel L. Goldsmith Obituary (1951 - 2017)

SHAWMUT—Dannel L. Goldsmith, 65, of Shawmut passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, August 5, 2017, with family by his side. He was born in Waterville on October 3, 1951, the son of Norman A. Goldsmith and Ruby H. (McKechnie) Goldsmith. He attended Lawrence High School, class of 1970. From 1970 to 1990, he was employed at the Woods Farm in Fairfield Center. From 1990 to 2002, he worked construction for Sheridan and H.E. Sargent. Dannel enjoyed playing cribbage and horseshoes. He also collected coins and knives. He loved spending time with family, but his favorite thing of all was spending time with his grandchildren. Dannel was a man of few words, but always spoke his mind. He was predeceased by his father, Norman A. Goldsmith; his mother, Ruby H. (McKechnie) Goldsmith; his son, David A. Goldsmith; and his brother, Randall B. Goldsmith. Dannel is survived by his son, Christopher L. Goldsmith; his daughter, Laurie D. Goldsmith; his grandchildren, Lindsey D. Giggey, Kellie E. Goldsmith, Taylor M. Holmes, Devin R. Goldsmith, Gabriel D. Goldsmith, Garrett D. Goldsmith, Keira A. Goldsmith, and Jayden A. Goldsmith; his siblings, Gary Goldsmith and Michael Goldsmith; his sister-in-law, Deborah Goldsmith; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, and 10 a.m. to noon and 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 10 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 11 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery on the Middle Rd., Fairfield Center. The family would like to thank all of the family members and friends for being part of his life. A celebration of Dannel’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, August 12 at his home located at 16 Church St., Shawmut.
