Edward
Papsis
May 3, 1930 — Nov 27, 2014
Winslow- Edward J. Papsis Sr. (84), died after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Boston, MA on May 3, 1930, the son of Theodore and Eva (Grigas) Papsis.
Eddy and his wife Gloria of 57 years, moved to Winslow 3 ½ years ago to live with family as his health declined, after having lived in Cotuit MA on Cape Cod for 26 years. Eddy joined the Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1956 as a Staff Sergeant. He was stationed in Japan where his interest in electronics began a lifelong career. He was heavily involved in the early years of computers. Inventing testing equipment and writing several books. This interest continued throughout his life often building his own electronic equipment. In his early years, Eddy learned to appreciate music, later playing in bands. His favorite instrument was the saxophone.
Eddy’s grandchildren were always very special to him. He looked forward to each and every visit often taking them to the ocean to collect “pails of treasures”. Eddy was an easy going man who always had a smile and compliment, even as his health declined, especially with his caretakers.
Eddy is survived by his wife Gloria (Serena). His children, Edward Jr and wife Candis of Winslow, Stephen and his wife Frances of Franklin MA, Elaine Thibeault and husband Joseph of Cotuit MA, and Robert and his partner Susan Lajoie of Lewiston. Also survived by his sister Sylvia Joy and husband John of Holbrook MA. Eight grandchildren Desiree, Danielle, Anthony, Nick, Adam, Andrew, Joseph and Victoria. Also one great grandchild Renee. Eddy is predeceased by a brother Theodore and a sister Lenore.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
