Emily G. Webster Obituary (1921 - 2012)

HINCKLEY, MAINE--Emily Gould Webster, of Hinckley, Maine, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville, Maine. She was 90 years old. Emily was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, daughter of Fredrick and Winifred Gould. Emmy moved to Hinckley when she was just 9 years old. She was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1938, but, took a post graduate course before attending nursing school in Augusta, Maine. She graduated from nursing school in 1943. She was employed by Dr. Dore, Dr. Ed Ervin, and Colby College. She truly enjoyed working with Dr. Ervin as his pediatric nurse for 23 years. She respected his knowledge, dry wit, and kindness, and loved the children she treated over the years. She was predeceased by her much beloved son, Daniel Webster, who died from coronary disease in 2006. She was also predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings who she adored, Fred (chief of police in Fairfield, Maine for 30 years), Robert Gould and Roberta Gould Olson, Alan Gould, Frank Gould, and Gordon Gould; and nephew Alan “Skip” Gould. She is survived by her niece, Linda (Gould) Brown and husband, Benjamin of Dixmont, Maine; two grand nieces who were like grand daughters to her, Eliza Dunne and her husband, Henry of Hollis Center, Maine, and Megan and her husband Chris Jolly of Cambridge, Vermont. Emmy also leaves three other adored nieces, Rosemary Davis, and Barbara Albrecht of California, and Wilma Johnson of Elliot, Maine; and two much loved nephews, James Olson of Montana, and Robert Gould of Gorham, Maine. Emmy lived a long, and proud life, and she was able to live independently in her home because of so many wonderful and caring friends including Suzie and Frank Caverly, Patty Pearman, Alice and Bob White, June Price, Bill and Jennifer Griffins, Kim Hood, Richard LeClair, Pearl Hamilton, Bill and Rosemarie Haggerty, Pastor Steve Donahue and his wife Linda, and so many wonderful members of the Shawmut Chapel who checked on her weekly if not daily. Emmy also was fortunate to have a very caring physician, Dr. Rosalind Waldron, who gave her not only the best of care but also emotional support. If anyone has been omitted from this list, it is simply and oversight as your kindness and generosity has been greatly appreciated. The family would also like to thank the staff, and Emergency Room doctors at MaineGeneral Medical Center. You were all amazing! Funeral services will be held at the Shawmut Chapel in Shawmut, Maine on Wednesday, March 14, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Donahue officiating. A luncheon and reception will immediately follow at the Chapel. Spring interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, Fairfield, Maine at a later date.
