Belgrade, ME--Esmer Tibbetts Tilton, 97, died Thursday, April 9, 2015, at the Woodlands Senior Living in Waterville, ME. She was born in Anson, ME on October 6, 1917, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Buck) Tibbetts. Esmer attended schools in Anson, ME and Somerville, MA. She married Carl W. Ellis in 1934; they were married until his death in 1964. Together they had three sons, Blaine, Paul, and Harold Ellis. She married her second husband, Lloyd F. Tilton in 1967, and they were married until his death in 2001. Esmer was employed as an inspector at Diamond International in Oakland, ME for 25 years, retiring in 1976. She attended the Old South Church in Belgrade, ME. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, and especially the winters spent at her home in Kissimmee, FL. with her husband, Lloyd Tilton. She was a charter member of the MNO (Mother’s Night Out Club); she was also a member of the Cascade Grange, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Oakland Garden Club. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Rose Tibbetts; her sisters, Louise Mosher, Alice Brown, Madge Garneau, and Majorie Parlin; brothers, Martelle Tibbetts, and Carroll Tibbetts; her son, Paul E. Ellis; step son, Richard Tilton; step daughter, Mary Rowe; and her husbands, Carl W. Ellis and Lloyd F. Tilton. Surviving are two sons, Blaine A. Ellis and wife, Charlene of Oakland, ME, and Harold Ellis and wife, Gail of Topsham, ME; step children, Robert Tilton and wife, Donna of Venice, FL., and Donald Tilton of Nashua, NH; four grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; numerous step grand and great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at Lawry Brothers-Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church Street, Oakland, ME. Spring burial will be at the Lake View Cemetery in Oakland.
