Obituary

On Sunday July 20, 2014 Faith Anita Collar went home to be with the Lord. Anita was born in Waterville, Maine on January 30, 1929 to John Alton Bragg and Anne McKay Bragg. She attended Oakland schools and graduated from Williams High in 1948. Neil W. Collar became her beloved husband in 1948 and was her lifelong partner until he passed in 1996. Together they raised 4 children, including Timothy Neil, whom they lost to Leukemia at the age of four. Neil and Anita s life together was full of friends, laughter and love. Together they raised a strong family and built several businesses. They loved to travel, dance and share adventures. When Neil passed away, though difficult, it only slowed her down for a short season. She loved to be on the go, and loved to shop, especially for a bargain. Anita spent many a day with her companion Audrey Hutchinson hunting for antiques. When Audrey passed away, Maxine Bouchard came alongside and they both spent many a Saturday, yard saling the streets of Central Maine. Anita would often be found at one of her favorite breakfast nooks having her decaff coffee and enjoying pumpkin pancakes with her many friends before the start of a days adventures. Never one to sit home, Anita s life was always busy and productive. However, there was more to life for Anita than shopping and breakfast gatherings. She was an active member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Waterville and member of their Widows Group who spent time helping others heal from their losses. She also was a member of Caring Friends of Oakland, a nonprofit group that serves the area communities by bringing relief to others in need. Anita is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, Sheila Gabriel and Dan Cyr of Rome Maine, Andrew and Mary Collar of Waterville and Lisa and Tom Farley of Rockport. Anita has 7 grandchildren, Tom Blake, Joel Jones, Kerrie Pelkey-Peden, Virginia Killiam, Andrea Dubois, Mallory and Morgan Farley. Anita also enjoyed 6 great grandchildren. A Celebration of life will be held at 21 Cardinal Way in Winslow at 1pm on Saturday the 26th and is open to friends and family. In lieu of flowers, Anita would like you to send donations to Caring Friends P.O. Box 504, Oakland, Maine 04963. The family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Maine General Hospice and Maine-ly Elder Care of Oakland for their love and professionalism through our difficult time.
