April 18, 2012 Waterville: Florian Stretch A. Bolduc 81, died Wednesday April 18, 2012 at Maine General Medical Center in Waterville. He was born in Gardiner on May 23, 1930 the son of Florian J. And Yvonne A. (Hallee) Bolduc. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1947, and served 2 years with the U.S. Army. In 1970 Stretch and his brother, David took over ownership and operation of Flo s Greenhouse when their father Florian J. Bolduc retired. They continued to run the business until 1996 when the Carter Memorial Bridge forced the business to move to Silver Street and he retired Stretch lived many years in Waterville, before moving to Smithfield in the early 1990's. He was an extremely active member of St. Theresa s Catholic Church in Oakland and St. Helena s Catholic Church in Belgrade Lakes, and later at Corpus Christi Parish in Waterville. He was a Eucharistic Minister, and devoted many hours to helping St. Theresa s Guild with their many projects. Stretch was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Oakland and then Fairfield. He rose thru the ranks to Exalted Leader and was treasurer at the time of his death. Stretch enjoyed boating and was a 50 year member of the Power Squadron. He liked to travel and especially enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas. His love of flowers and gardening continued his entire life. He had a passion for helping others and was a great supporter of the Waterville Area Homeless Shelter as well as the Oakland Community Food Bank. He was predeceased by his first wife, Norma Joyce Bolduc in 1978, by a son David C. Bolduc, step children Stephen R. Meader and Cynthia Jane Meader, and a granddaughter, Brandi Rutherford. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Theresa Bolduc of Smithfield, son John Bolduc and wife Cheryl of Hubbardston, Ma., daughter Marie Celeste Bolduc of Waterville, step children; Gary S. Meader and companion Trina Creek of Oakland, Jeffrey Lee Meader and wife Nancy of Oakland, David A. Meader of Fairfield, Marcia A. Collins of Waterville, Lloyd C. Meader and companion Kim, and Roberta L. Rutherford of Fairfield, brother David E. Bolduc of Waterville, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Marcia Collins in addition to the angels at the Harold Alfond Cancer Care Center and 2 Central, Maine General Medical Center, Friends are invited to visit 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Thursday April 19 at Wheeler Funeral Home 26 Church Street Oakland ( www.wheelerfh.com ). A mass of Christian burial will be held 9:00 AM on Friday April 20 at Notre Dame Church, Silver Street Waterville. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville. Following the service, there will be a gathering of friends and family at the Waterville American Legion Post on College Ave. In Waterville. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Harold Alfond Cancer Care Center in Augusta.
