Belgrade: Gerald Jerry Furbush 68 died Monday August 6, 2012 at Maine General Medical Center in Waterville with his family by his side. He was born in Rome on February 21, 1944 the son of Frank A. And Martha M. (Foss) Furbush. Jerry graduated from Williams High School, Class of 1962. As a teen, he hayed for Merle Mosher of Rome, logged for his brother Frank Jr. As well as James Lund and Sons of Oakland. He was employed by Harris Baking Company, Diamond International, and Keyes Fibre Company. Jerry then started driving tractor trailer for Warren Brothers. They later became Tilcon and then Pike Industries. Jerry retired in October 2008 after working there for 37 years. A caring person, Jerry and Jane have been foster parents to nearly one hundred infants since 1976. He was active in the Amputees Support Group of Greater Waterville, and a member of the Oakland-Sidney United Methodist Church. Jerry s favorite interests were watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhart Jr. He spent many enjoyable hours admiring and collecting antique cars, doing puzzels, and playing card and board games with friends. He also was a former square dancer. Jerry enjoyed feeding and watching birds both in Maine and Florida. Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by a son Roger, His brothers and sister Frank Furbush Jr., Wesley Furbush Sr., Clarence Furbush Sr., and Shirley Sylvia. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Jane (Lund) Furbush of Belgrade, a son Troy Furbush of Oakland, daughters Sarah Furbush of Sidney and Mary Furbush of Belgrade. 2 brothers Laurence Furbush and wife Frances of Oakland, and James Furbush and companion Pan Dudley of Sidney, sister Janice Powell and husband Jerry of Oakland, sisters in law Faith Furbush of Oakland, Rose Wood of Oakland, Maxine Peters of Fairfield, and Beverly Furbush of Rome, grand daughter Sabrina Furbush of Oakland. Friends are invited to visit 7-9 PM on Thursday August 9 at Wheeler Funeral Home 26 Church St Oakland. A funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Friday August 10 at Oakland-Sidney United Methodist Church 14 West School Street Oakland. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade. Arrangements are by Wheeler Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Oakland.
