August 29, 2012 Sidney: Gladys J. McLellan 86, died Tuesday August 28, 2012 at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville surrounded by her family. She was born in Waterville on June 19, 1926 the daughter of Frank and Lulu (Brown) McKechnie. Besides being a home maker, Gladys worked at several jobs. She delivered ice, worked at Hathaway Shirt Manufacturer, and was employed many years by the State of Maine Sales Tax Division. A resident of Sidney most of her life, She was a caregiver for many people including her parents and sisters. Gladys was an active member of the Sidney Grange and belonged to the State and National Granges. She loved both indoor and outdoor birds, spent many enjoyable hours tending her vegetable and flower gardens, and was a collector of unicorns, plates, and windchimes. Gladys was predeceased by her first husband,Woodrow McLellan and her second husband Leo McLellan, and a son Thomas McLellan. . The youngest of ten, she was also predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters. Surviving are 3 sons; Woodrow McLellan Jr. And his wife Chandra of Sidney, Clifton McLellan and companion Constance Smith of California and Frank McLellan and wife Tina of Sidney. 2 daughters, Cookie Luce and husband Floyd of Sidney and Kathy Hamlin and husband Phil of Sidney. Daughter in law Germaine McLellan of Sidney, step daughter Mary Jane Ramajas and husband Jack and step daughter in law Sally McLellan both of Connecticut, 39 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 3 great great grand children. Many thanks to the staff at Mount St. Joseph s Nursing Home. They have been thoughtful, considerate and treated Gladys with the utmost respect and love. A funeral service will be 10:30 AM on Friday August 31 at Wheeler Funeral Home 26 Church Street Oakland where friends may visit from 8:30 until the time of the service.
