Fairfield, Maine-Harriet Gurney, 91, of Fairfield, Maine, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 1, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 24, 1921, in Malden, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late John and Addie Belle (York) White. Harriett was a life time member of the Garden Club, and also, a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was a Reverend, and was pastor of the Spiritualist Church. She wed many couples. She loved gardening, reading, spending time with her family, and enjoyed summering at Temple Heights. Harriett was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Roland Gurney; a son, Robert Gurney; a granddaughter, Debra Gurney; a grandson, Shawn McMorrow; and her best friend and sister-in-law Alice Gurney. She is survived by her children, Maryann Campbell, John Gurney and his partner Sharron Oliver, Burtina Page and her husband Allen, Roland Gurney, Jr., and his wife Diane, and Sueann McKenney and her husband Wallance; her sister Florence Rowe; her grandchildren, Karen Poulin and her husband Kenneth, Kim Castonguay and her husband Darrin, Kathy Burham, Karla Danforth and her husband David, Ralph Lane and his wife Amy, Michelle Gurney, John Gurney, Marc Gurney and his partner Andrea, Shannon Gurney, Melissa Woodbury and her husband Duncan, Roland Gurney III, and his wife Nancy, Robert Gurney, Roger West, Devon Gurney and his partner Ashley Fitzpatrick, and Joshua Gurney; 28 great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend Zella Longley; and a son-in-law, Ralph Lane, Sr. The family would like to thank Lori Martin, Danielle Kelly, Sharron Lane, HealthReach Hospice, Dr. Kimball, Dr. Irving and his wife Lisa, and her grandson Ralph Lane, and great grandson Johnathan and Amy Cormier. Also, a very special thanks to her daughter who was one of her best friends and caregiver, Maryann Campbell. A graveside service will be held on June 9, at 1 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield, Maine.
