Obituary

February 9, 2014 Belgrade: Irene Dalton Furbush 87, died Saturday February 8, 2014 at the Lake Wood Continuing Care Center in Waterville. She was born in Belgrade Lakes on November 1, 1926 the daughter of Clyde and Edna (French) Dalton. Irene attended Belgrade Schools. She loved her life as a wife, mother, and homemaker, and helped with camp cleaning for Ruby Ellis and Mabel Hatch. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and made mittens for all her grandchildren and many children at local schools. Her family treasures many of the afghans she crocheted for them over the years. For many years, she was a member of the North Belgrade Garden Club. She loved her time attending many local churches, her most recent, The Blood Bought Church in Oakland. She is predeceased by her husband Donald Furbush, a grandson Richard Paradis, and her brothers and sisters; Ronald, Danny, Arnold, and Clyde Dalton, Virginia Veilleux, and Evelyn Cayford. She is survived by 2 sons, Donald Furbush Jr. and wife Linda of Tennesee, and Jeffery Furbush and wife Paula of Vassalboro, 3 daughters Nanch Paradis Martin of Oakland, Ann Groder and husband Mike of Belgrade, and Donna Pelletier and husband Dick of Clinton, a sister Dot Jenness of California, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Lakewood Continuing Care for the excellent care Irene received and the thoughtful compassion given them. Friends are invited to visit 7-9 PM on Tuesday February 11 at the Wheeler Funeral Home 26 Church Street Oakland. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday February 12 at the Blood Bought Church Kennedy Memorial Drive in Oakland. Spring burial will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Belgrade-Rome Special Needs Food Pantry, 6 Manchester Rd. Belgrade, Me. 04917.
