Jeannette Lemieux, 90
Winslow – Jeannette Lemieux, 90, of Winslow, formerly of Marlborough, MA, died unexpectedly on Sunday April 10, 2016 in Waterville. She was born on December 27, 1925 in Winslow, a daughter of Alexandriene (Gilbert) and Joseph Lemieux. She graduated from Winslow High School, Class of 1944, where she excelled on the girls basketball team.
Jeannette first worked at Cottle’s Supermarket for a couple of years before moving to Boston where she studied to be a lab technician. She worked at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton for two years before accepting a position in the Research Department at Brandies University where she retired after 35 years.
Jeannette was an avid sportswoman and a great fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. She had fond memories of 50 cent bleacher seats at Fenway. In later years, anything sports on television had her interest. She will be remembered for so many good things, her love of good times and her generosity.
She is survived by her sister Constance Lemieux of Winslow; her brother Felix Lemieux of Waterville; many nieces and nephews; as well as a large extended family. She was predeceased by three brothers: Romeo, Robert and Donald and five sisters: Beatrice Paradis, Albertine Allain, Cyprienne Lemieux, Lorraine Lemieux and Madelyn Dunbar.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Dr. Preston and his nurse Debbie for the excellent care and compassion given to Jeannette over the years.
Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 am on Friday April 15, 2016 at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 26 Monument Street, Winslow. Burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville. Please visit www.veilleuxfuneralhome.com to share condolences, memories and tributes with her family.
