Palermo, ME- Josie Mae Keene, 74, passed away on February 11, 2016 with her family by her side. Josie was born on April 12, 1941 in China, ME to the late Lester and Bertha (Childs) Reynolds. She attended Erskine Academy. After high school Josie was employed Volmers Nursing Home in Vassalboro, ME, Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills, ME, and the Maine Veterans Home until she retired from the administration department in 2003. Josie was a member of the South China Legion Post #179 and the Women Auxiliary for several years. She was an avid Bingo player, loved shopping, riding, and Dunkin Donuts. She was predeceased by her husband John Keene; her parents; her brothers Philip and Elisha Reynolds; and her son Theodore Mitchell Jr. Josie is survived by her sister Betty Soule and her husband Rick; children Brenda Barden and her husband Lary of South China, ME, Donna Keeler and her husband Jim of Readfield, ME, Tim Mitchell and his wife Wendy of Windsor, ME, and Bonnie Mitchell of Georgia. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 9-11 a.m. at Lawry Brothers-Gray Chapel, 207 Windsor Neck Road, Windsor, ME followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the spring at Chadwick Hill Cemetery in China, ME. Family will be gathering at the South China American Legion Post #179 directly following Service.
