Lavina E. Marks Obituary (2009 - 2012)

WATERVILLE, MAINE—Lavina E. Marks, 102, of Waterville, Maine, died on Friday, January 20, 2012, in Waterville, Maine. She was born on November 14, 1909, in Sillikers, New Brunswick, Canada, to Charles and Annie (Travis) Scott. She taught school in New Brunswick and worked in a candy factory in Sillikers. Lavina came to the United States in 1934 and was employed at a Bangor, Maine drug store. She married Bruce E. Marks on April 11, 1935, in Albion, Maine. They raised 8 children at their family farm on the Marks Road in Albion, Maine. Lavina enjoyed her family and played the piano to the delight of her children and grandchildren. She became a proud U.S. citizen in 2006. After her husband’s death in 2003, she moved to Goudreau’s Retirement Inn in Waterville, Maine where she resided until her death. Lavina is survived by her 8 children, Ida (Marks) Stevens of Albion, Maine, Raymond Marks and wife June of Dunedin, Florida, Ronald Marks and wife Jewell of Pompano Beach, Florida, Kenneth Marks, Sr. and wife Andrea of Fairfield, Maine, Winston Marks and wife Joette of Benton, Maine, Charles Marks and wife Sarah of Benton, Maine, Joanne (Marks) Stevens and husband Stanley of Scarborough, Maine, and Rickey Marks and companion Patty Norton of Winslow, Maine; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Also surviving, her sister Elmira (Scott) McKay; and brothers, Bernard and Hudson Scott, all of New Brunswick, Canada. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; son-in-law Elwin Stevens; sisters Lottie (Scott) Mullen and Ida (Scott) Jardine; and brothers David and Percy Scott. There will be no visiting hours or funeral service at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Maple Grove Cemetery in Albion, Maine.
