Benton - Lucille B. Huber, a resident of Benton for nearly 50 years, passed away on Good Friday, April 18, 2014, at the age of ninety. Lucille was born in Winslow, Maine, on November 3, 1923, the daughter of Wilfred & Leontine (Boucher) Bouthot.

At an early age, Lucille attended Sacred Heart Academy in Jackman, Maine, followed by four years at Mount Merci Academy, graduating in 1941. During her teen years, Lucille was active in the Children of Mary Sodality of Notre Dame Parish of which she was treasurer and president for several years. She also served as treasurer and president of the Mount Merci Alumnae organization.

Lucille worked in the law office of Harold Dubord, Esq., followed by employment with Central Maine Power Company until her marriage to George Huber in 1948. She worked in different capacities with her final position as secretary to Spoffard Ludding, the Division Manager of CMPC.

Lucille married George F. Huber of Conde, South Dakota, on June 19, 1948. She was a devoted and caring mother, and loved spending time with her four boys. When they were older, Lucille worked at Peters Fuel Energy in Fairfield but made sure that she was home for them when they returned from school. Once the nest was empty, she helped her son, Richard, with his dental practice in Hartland by working as a receptionist/secretary. A special joy was taking care of her home on Kennebec Drive. Well into her eighties, she enjoyed the time spent on her riding mower, and looked forward to snow-blowing her driveway. She was proud of being able to keep up with the everyone on the street, despite being the matriarch of the neighborhood.

Lucille was predeceased by her parents, her husband George, two brothers Edmund and Richard, and one son, Thomas.

She is survived by Richard and Kathy Huber of Burnham, and their children Dan and Kristen; Steven Huber and his partner Dianna Gram, and their separate children, Garrett and Benjamin; Kevin and Lisa Huber of Scarborough, and their children Sarah, Ryan and Eric; Thomas’ children, Hans, Liesel and Heidi; godchild Cindy Bouthot; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Roland Knausenberger for his dedicated and compassionate care of Lucille. Special thanks go to the Skilled Nursing Unit staff of Lakewood Continuing Care Center. Lucille was able to enjoy the last ten weeks of her life because they embraced her from their hearts and showered her with devoted and loving care.

At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 26, at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00. A private burial will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance at www.tsalliance.org or the Cancer Center of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Veilleux Funeral Home.
