Margaret E. Shorey Obituary (1919 - 2012)

Waterville, Maine-Margaret E. Shorey, 93, formerly of North Vassalboro, Maine, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012, at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville, Maine. She was born in Waterville, Maine on April 10, 1919, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Louise (Cote) Carey. She attended Waterville schools, graduating from Waterville High School, class of 1937. In 1941, she married Jasper Shorey, he passed away in 1982. She was employed by J. C. Penney and was head of the clothing department for several years. She was also a manager at the Credit Bureau in Waterville, Maine for several years before retiring. She was Past President for the American Legion Auxiliary in North Vassalboro, Maine. She loved to watch the Boston Red Sox, and enjoyed knitting and spending time at the family camp on China Lake. She was predeceased by three sisters, Marion Pooler, Marjorie Scripture, and Irene Daniels. She is survived by her son Evan Shorey and his wife Bonnie of North Vassalboro, Maine; her daughter Priscilla Abbott and her husband Dale of Winslow, Maine; five grandchildren Leah Norton, Michelle Lebrun, Cathy Geller, Brian Shorey, and Allyson Libby; great grandchildren Maggie, Megan, Adam, Nicholas, Sarah, Danielle, Chloe, Kaili, Madeline, Gabriel, Kaleb, and Cote; great great grandchildren Alianna, Aiden, Bella, and Owen; and a very good friend Maggie Harrigan. The family would like to thank the staff at Lakewood and HealthReach Hospice for their kindness and their caring ways. At Margaret’s request there will be no visiting hours or funeral.
