Merlon C. Paul Jr. Obituary (1923 - 2013)

Benton, Maine-Merlon C. Paul, Jr., 89, of Benton, Maine, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Skowhegan, Maine. He was born in Clinton, Maine on April 12, 1923, the son of the late Merlon C. Paul, Sr., and Pearl (Dixon) Paul. He was raised by his uncle and aunt, John and Ethel Faas. He was a merchant marine for 22 years and sailed to several countries. When he was in Maine, he visited relatives and friends often. For many years, he spent winters in Florida and summers in Benton, Maine. He was a 66 year member of the Siloam Lodge #92 A.F. & A.M. of Fairfield, Maine. He was predeceased by his aunt and uncle; a sister Alice of Clinton; and a brother Robert of Waterville. He is survived by two sons William and MaryAnn Paul and their two children William J. and Priscilla Paul, all of Florida, and John Paul of Florida; and a half brother Wayne Paul and his family of Benton, Maine. There will be no visiting hours or services at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring by the masons at Falls Cemetery in Benton, Maine. The family would like to thank the staff at Volmer’s in Vassalboro, Maine for the excellent care and concern shown for Merlon.
