Pearl Y. Estes Obituary (1920

Oakland, ME: Pearl Y. Estes, 94, of Oakland, ME took her Savior’s hand on Thursday, May 7, 2015, and walked into her Heavenly home. She was born in Oakland, ME on July 4, 1920, the daughter of Ernest and Ida (Wood) York. She attended Schools in Oakland, ME and graduated from Williams High School in 1938. After high school she enrolled in a secretarial course and for several years was the office secretary for Marston Oil Company. She also worked for several years at the Cascade Woolen Mill. She married Leroy E. Estes on February 20, 1941, who has been waiting for her since his passing in August of 1995. What a reunion it must have been. They could dance together like no other. It was amazing to sit and watch them as they danced the night away. Pearl was one of 8 children, six brothers, Carl York, Earl York, Alton York, James York, Vernon York, and William York; and one sister and best friend, Barbara Vigue, whom all passed before her. She was a lifelong member of the Untied Baptist Church in Oakland, ME. She looked forward to Church each Sunday. She would drive herself until the fall on 2014. Then Paul Bacon would come and get her. We thank Paul for your kindness to her. She and Leroy were blessed with four sons and daughter in laws, Shane and his wife Robin of Grinnell, Iowa, Blynn and his wife Marianne of Hudson, N.H., Galen and his wife Linda of Oakland, ME, and Kearn and his wife Jocelyn of Central Point Oregon; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren. Friends are invited to visit Sunday, May 10 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Lawry Brothers-Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church Street, Oakland, ME. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11 at the Oakland United Baptist Church, Church Street, Oakland, ME. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade.
