Richard M. Chamberlain Obituary (1915 - 2012)

CLINTON, MAINE—Richard M. Chamberlain, 97, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Woodlawn Nursing Center in Skowhegan, Maine following a brief illness. He was born in Clinton, Maine on March 12, 1915, the son of the late Harry A. and Viva M. (Merrill) Chamberlain. Richard attended schools in Clinton and Benton. Following his schooling, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. His employment included working at a plywood plant in Houlton, Maine in 1944, North Anson Reel wood working plant in 1960, and Skiland Woolen Mill in Clinton, Maine in 1971. After retiring in 1974, he lived with his mother in Clinton, Maine. He also spent time at Winslow Place in Winslow, Maine, Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville, Maine, Woodland Assisted Living in Waterville, Maine, and finally Woodlawn Nursing Center in Skowhegan, Maine. Richard was a member of the Methodist Church in Clinton, Maine before converting to the catholic faith as a member of Corpus Christi Parish in Waterville, Maine. He was also a member of the Clinton Grange #287, and the American Legion Post in Clinton, Maine. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy F. Chamberlain who passed away in 1944; and one brother, Lawrence J. Chamberlain who passed away in 1983. Richard will be sadly missed by his twin brother, Robert C. Chamberlain and his wife, Marlene of Clinton, Maine. Richard always enjoyed life and being a friend to everyone. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. And 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 17 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18 at Sacred Heart Church, 72 Pleasant St., Waterville, Maine. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Grove St., Waterville, Maine.
