Rockwood, ME-- Susan E. Asselin, 68, died Friday, February 6, 2015, at the Charles Dean Hospital in Greenville, ME, following a long illness. She was born in Portland, ME on July 9, 1946, the daughter of Harry and Yvonne (Griffin) Hanson. Susan grew up in the Portland area, earning her GED, and going on to become a LPN. She was employed at Mercy Hospital, did private duty nursing, and worked at the Charles Dean Hospital in Greenville, ME, where she died. Susan loved life and the people she knew. She was always giving and doing for others, and always put others before herself. She enjoyed cooking, baking, cake decorating, and painting. She loved the holidays and making her famous Date Squares and Homemade Doughnuts. She touched the lives of many people. She will be missed more than she could ever know. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Asselin Jr.; two daughters, Bethany Towle and Laura Smith; three sons, Joseph Asselin III, Steven Eric Wilkins, and James Brown; three sisters, Kathleen Hansen, Judith Mason, and Patricia Smith; five grandchildren, Erica Rose Brewster, Grace Brown, Cory Towle, Krystal Towle, and Crystal Wilkins; and a great granddaughter, Stella Rose Severi. Besides her parents, Susan was predeceased by her daughter, Wanda Jean Foss. At her request, there will be no visiting or funeral services.
