Obituary

SIDNEY, ME--Susan Elizabeth Libby, 59, of Sidney, Maine passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015, peacefully into the everlasting arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on May 4, 1956, a daughter of Larry and Mary (Dibble) Crandall of Homer, Michigan. She worked at the Messalonskee High School for 22 years as a computer technician. She had two brain surgeries in Phoenix, Arizona and suffered many strokes. Even though she suffered from pain after her surgeries, she was incredibly strong. She was married to the love of her life, David, for 34 years. She is survived by her husband, David Libby; their two sons, Lance Libby and his wife, Nicole, and their two children, Ava and Lydia of Waterville, ME, and Ramen Libby of Fairfield, ME; one sister, Beverly (Crandall) Watson of Colorado Springs; two brothers, Michael Crandall of Rantoul, Illinois, and Philip Crandall of Homer, Michigan; and her father, Lawrence Crandall and his wife, Ruth Crandall. Susan had many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Susan was a member of the United Baptist Church in Oakland, ME, was involved in the Ladies Circle, and sang in the choir. Susan grew up in Michigan and then moved to Oakland, Maine to marry her sweetheart, David. Susan was very thankful to Home Care for all of the help they gave, especially Tonya Logan who spent the most time helping care for Susan and also Donna, her nurse who came to the house every week to check on her. Susan always said they were a joy to be with. Susan also had many friends who were a big help in her life. Diane Joseph and Jan Corrigan were a couple of those important friends. She was blessed to have so many friends and wonderful neighbors. Susan was so proud of the accomplishments of her two sons and loved seeing her two granddaughters. Susan loved landscaping around her home and enjoyed watching the flowers come up every spring. Her sons and husband helped dig many holes for the plantings; she would always say, "Just one more hole in the dirt!" Relatives and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19 at Lawry Brothers-Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church Street, Oakland, ME. A funeral service celebrating the life of Susan will take place at the United Baptist Church in Oakland, ME at noon on Thursday, August 20. A reception will follow the service at Joseph’s Fireside Steakhouse, W. River Road, Waterville, ME.
