PALERMO, ME—Thelma S. Staples, 89, of Palermo, ME died on Wednesday, July 1, 2015. She was born at home in Palermo, ME on December 18, 1925, the daughter of George and Grace Fuller. She attended school in Weeks Mills. Thelma married Warren “Huck” Staples on October 2, 1943, and they spent 48 years together. She was a member of the Branch Mills Grange before she became ill, and she volunteered at the Palermo Clothing Exchange. She enjoyed playing Bingo. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Grace Fuller; her brother, Forrest Fuller and his wife, Dorothy; her husband, Warren “Huck” Staples; her daughters, Louise Keane, and Norma Staples; her sons, Basil, and Joseph Staples; and her brother-in-law, Gene Bradstreet. Thelma is survived by her daughters, Grace O’Brien of Palermo, ME, Ann Bako and her husband, Peter of China, ME, and Martha Staples and her companion, Barry Swift of Somerville, ME; her sons, Forrest, James, Warren and his wife, Glennis, Rhama, and Ephraim Staples all of Palermo, ME, Larry and Richard Staples of Thomaston, ME, and Henry and his wife, Linda of Caribou, ME; her son-in-law, Steven Keane of Georgetown, ME; her sister, Beatrice Bradstreet of S. China, ME; her brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Irving and Mary Langmaid of Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Everyone who knew her would call her ma, mother, or grammie. The family would like to give a special thank you to Janice, Tammi, Laurie, and Danielle. At Thelma’s request, there will be no funeral service. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7 at Deer Hill Cemetery on Deer Hill Road in China, ME, with Pastor Ed Hatch officiating.
